The Area around the Villa

Domus Mare Villas are located in the unspoilt area of Agios Pavlos. An area of outstanding natural beauty, it is recognised for beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters. The closest beach is Agios Pavlos where you will also find a traditional taverna and small mini market. Beyond the main beach of Agios Pavlos lies the beautiful sand dune beach, its real calling card. Agia Galini is the closest established village (15kms) with a host of amenities, pretty winding streets with tavernas, restaurants and fishing harbour. 

Crete’s south coast beaches are known for their natural beauty and sweeping sandy bays. Both Triopetra (8kms) and Agia Fotini (36kms) will be enjoyed by any beach lover. Being less touristy than the north coast, the south coast of Crete offers a good insight into “original” Crete. Explore the famous Amari valley region or visit the village of Spili (26kms) famous for its lion's head fountains in its square and handmade craft shops along with a few local tavernas.

For those interested in archeology, the Minoan palace of Phaestos (32kms), famous for the Phaestos disc, and summer palace of Agia Triada (32kms) are interesting sites to explore and still maintain their original integrity. A little further afield lies the archeological site of Gortyna, once an important city in Crete, especially during the Roman era.
